Workplace Injuries
Hurt Yourself at work?
Workers compensation is a system in place to help you recover from a work injury or aggravation. First see your GP and they will start the necessary paperwork to get you the assistance that you need. You might need light duties at work or a different way of loading the body while you work, so your workplace needs to be notified. Your GP might decide that you need Physiotherapy.
Before coming to see the Physio you will need to know …
- Date of the Injury;
- Claim number;
- Insurer details;
- Case Manager and your GPs contact details; and
- Certificate of capacity from your GP.
This is needed so that the Physio can claim for treatments and/or request more treatments. Once approved your insurer will automatically cover you for 8 physio sessions. Your physio can apply for more if needed.
If you don’t have a claim number you will need to pay for treatment yourself, then claim back payments later. If you are in acute pain and the paperwork is taking time, then this is often the best way to start, so that you are taken care of. The best outcomes for injuries are where the injury is treated early.
Enhanced Primary Care – Medicare
Your Physiotherapist can support you under a Medicare-subsidised Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program. The aim of the EPC program is to assist patients with chronic care needs. Eligibility for this service can be found at Services Australia. Your Doctor needs to start the process by setting up a care plan. Please make sure this is in place before booking your appointment. This may take time.
